About the event

An ancient and traditional art form, Pattachitra runs through generations. It is practiced in a traditionally set age-old process. You'd be surprised to know that natural colours extracted from various minerals are used in Pattachitra paintngs. In fact, the canvas itself is handmade out of old cotton sarees! These paintings are traditionally stories of Lord Krishna and Jagannath.

It is an exquisite and incredible art form with intricate detailing that needs a lot of detailing. There are over 20 different steps in the entire process of a traditional Pattachitra painting that makes it unique in itself!

Learn from a national-award winning traditional Pattachitra artist Shree Bibhu Maharana from a lesser known crafts village of Odisha, Danda Sahi.

Date: April 3, 2022
