Tussar Painting - Tree of Life (Blue)
Tree of Life serves as a reminder of our universal connection to Mother Earth, and our dependence on her to grow and flourish. Bring the life and earthy feel at home with this Pattachitra style tree of life painted on Tussar fabric in blue colours.
Tussar is a type of silk the yearns of which are procured naturally in Odisha’s weavers village, and then woven into a piece of fabric.
An ancient and traditional art form, Pattachitra runs through generations. The Handicraft is practiced in a traditionally set age-old process. Natural colours extracted from various minerals are used on hand-made cloth canvas, to paint the tales of Lord Krishna and Jagannath. It is an exquisite and incredible art form with intricate detailing. Canvas preparation is a long process and begins with rubbing tamarind paste on pieces of cotton cloth. After it dries, the surface is smoothened, and a paste of conch shell/limestone powder is applied on it to give a white colour. A series of steps are followed to paint on the prepared canvas.
